
MAHİR NAKİP
Prof. Mahir Nakip was born in 1952 in Kerkuk-Iraq. After finishing high school in Baghdad, in 1972 he went to Ankara for college education. In 1985, he obtained a doctorate degree from Gazi University in Marketing. During 1986-87 he studied at Buffalo State University and also in 1996 he was a visiting professor at Rutgers University - Newark. During his career he worked both in Turkey and abroad. Presently Prof. Nakip is serving as a professor of Marketing in Erciyes University Kayseri, Turkey.
In addition to his academic career Prof Mahir Nakip, devoted his life for the Turkmen cause. During 1985-86 he served as the president of the Iraqi Turks Culture & Benevolence Associations in Turkey. He prepared political and cultural TV programs for Azerbaijani television. He gave various conferences on Iraqi Turks. In 2002, he served as a member of the constitution committee of the Iraqi Opposition in London. He published over 60 articles in various journals about Turkmen music, folklore, literature and political issues. Many of his articles appeared in "Kardashliq", a trilingual journal published in Turkish, English and Arabic. He also published two books on Turkmen music and folklore. Presently, he is serving as the board member of Kerkuk Foundation and member of editorial council of Journal of Kardashliq.
