Sylvia Nasar has been a writer at Fortune Magazine, a columnist at U.S. News & World Report and a reporter at The New York Times. She served as creative consultant on a PBS documentary about Nash. She was an editor of a volume of Nash's economic and mathematics papers and wrote "A Beautiful Mind" about Nash. A Beautiful Mind inspired the blockbuster movie directed by Ron Howard and starring Russell Crowe that won the 2002 Academy Award for Best Picture. Currently, she holds the first Knight Chair at Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University and working on a book about the great economic minds of the 20th century.
