YÜCEL GÜÇLÜ

Yücel Güçlü has entered the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1973 and served in Ankara and abroad at several capacities since then. He is currently Head of Bilateral Economic Affairs Department. He holds a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of London. His published works include The Question of the Sanjak of Alexandretta: A Study in Turkish-French-Syrian Relations, Ankara, 2001; Eminence Grise of the Turkish Foreign Service: Numan Menemencioğlu, Ankara, 2002 and The Life and Career of a Turkish Diplomat: Cevat Açıkalın, Ankara, 2002. His numerous articles on Turkish diplomatic history have appeared in scientific periodicals in Britain, the United States, Canada, Italy and Turkey. He won the Afet İnan Historical Studies Prize in 1996 and received the Turkish Academy of Sciences encouragement support in 2001, 2002 and 2003 for his international scholarly publications.
